The East African Community (EAC) held a regional validation workshop in Kampala, Uganda, for its Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy for 2026–2031. This event brought together technical experts, member state representatives, private sector actors, and partners to finalize a shared framework for the inclusive, responsible, and harmonized development of AI in East Africa.

The strategy aligns with goals of economic transformation, regional integration, and human capital development, focusing on sectoral priorities such as health, agriculture, trade, and education. It also aims to strengthen the region’s technological sovereignty. Before deployment, the strategy will undergo formal approval, with an emphasis on coordination, funding, and public-private partnerships. Through this initiative, the EAC seeks to position the bloc as a competitive player in the global digital economy.
