Ghana has rejected a five-year, $109 million bilateral health aid agreement proposed by the United States. According to a source close to the negotiations, the Ghanaian government refused clauses requiring the sharing of sensitive health data with Washington. The negotiations, which began in November 2025, became strained under increasing pressure from the U.S., which had set a deadline of April 24, 2026, to finalize the deal. Ultimately, Ghana deemed the proposed terms unacceptable and ended the discussions.
