The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has published its 2025 annual report, outlining its progress in data protection. Based on the NDP Act 2023 and the GAID 2025 directive, the institution highlights several achievements, including the certification of 500 Data Protection Officers (DPOs) and the translation of the law into Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo.

The NDPC also emphasizes the launch of the Virtual Privacy Academy, the registration of 38,000 data controllers, and the generation of 16 billion naira in revenue for the sector. It reports having received the PICASSO Award for Best African Authority.

According to the Commission, data protection is a strategic lever for building a Nigerian digital economy estimated at $1 trillion, based on trust and innovation.
